Elizabeth's Story.
This is Elizabeth Wangui Kimori aka (Beth). Born the 4th child to the Kimoris. Beth is now 18 years of age and attends Benezer High School in Oloolua, Ngong. For Beth it has been no easy ride but she has overcome and continues so. A student in form 2 now Beth dreams of being an accountant so that she may develop the skills of handling finances so that her family will never be poor again. I came to meet this young strong spirited girl through a friend of mine named Sophie Katampoi.
Sophie met Elizabeth through fate one early morning when she was out doing her morning workouts. Sophie who is passionate about the development of the African child, asked Beth why she is not in school, Beth told her that she had been kicked out of school due to lack of exam fee which was 30 shillings at that time. It was at that moment that Sophie made it her responsibility to cater for Beth with what little she had that was about four years ago.
Now Beth is in High School and like many young girls of her age Beth requires necessities apart from school fees, stationary, and uniform. This has posed a challenge to both her Parents who are poor and Sophie who is a young lady trying to establish her self. Her sisters are luckily because they attend a government school which is free.
It is such challenges that Sophie sort to make a plea to the community to rally behind Beth and help this girl achieve her dreams and much more. Sophie applied for the M-Changa a service that allows you to manage a fund raise from the comfort of the mobile phone. The target is 50,000 Kenya shillings which will be enough to sustain Beth till her end of her secondary education. So far she has been able to collect 3500 Kenya shillings.
